The Premier of Queensland

Annastacia Palaszczuk MP

The Queensland Government is delighted to be the presenting partner for the INAS Global Games to be held in Brisbane from 12 to 19 October 2019.

We look forward to welcoming 1000 athletes and around 1500 support staff, family and a friends, who will descend on Brisbane to compete in what is the world’s largest sporting event for elite athletes with intellectual impairment.

The Queensland Government recognises that everyone benefits from a diverse society, and we highly value the contribution that the one in five Queenslanders with disability make to our communities. Through our new State disability plan, my Government is committed to building a Queensland that is even more inclusive and responsive—an ‘all abilities’ Queensland. I commend INAS Global Games for promoting inclusion through sport, inspired by a belief that intellectual impairment should not be a barrier to enjoying and being the best in sport. With athletes from up to 80 countries competing across nine sports, I have no doubt sports-loving Queenslanders will be out in force to support them in 2019.

The Lord Mayor of Brisbane

Councillor Adrian Schrinner

On behalf of the City of Brisbane, we are looking forward to welcoming athletes, officials, families and friends to the INAS Global Games in October 2019. As Australia’s New World City, Brisbane prides itself on being accessible and inclusive, and is excited to be working with the Global Games Sports Company, Sport Inclusion Australia,  INAS and member organisations to continue  to ensure that athletes with an intellectual impairment can achieve excellence and compete  at the highest level of competition.

We know that visitors to Brisbane will be  warmly welcomed by our diverse communities and, with access to our world-class sporting facilities and perfect climate, I am confident this will ensure a conducive environment for top level performances.

INAS President

Marc Truffaut

On behalf of the INAS Governing Board, I would like to congratulate the Global Games Sports Company and our INAS Member nation, Sport Inclusion Australia for hosting the INAS Global Games – Brisbane 2019.

INAS, established in 1986, is the International Federation for athletes with intellectual impairments and a full member of the International Paralympic Committee.  INAS has grown to more than 80 member nations across the World, representing in excess of 300,000 athletes.

We manage more than 15 Regional and World Championship competitions working closely with the International Federations for sport, maintain Regional and World records/rankings, and manage the eligibility process for athletes with an intellectual impairment. Every 4 years we conduct the INAS Global Games—the world’s largest event for elite athletes with an intellectual impairment.

I look forward to joining you along with members of the INAS Family when we gather in October 2019 for the INAS Global Games Brisbane.
